Before designing our album cover and digipak, we wanted to research into similar artist's album cover. Therefore, this ensures that we effectively represent a alternative and organic star image, rather than a synthetic star image (in previous posts I explain the difference between an organic star image and synthetic star image in album covers).
I found that the inside of an album cover normally consists of images which are linked with the artist, e.g. pictures of the artist/band. One album cover I looked at was Bastille's album cover 'All this Bad Blood'. The inside of their album shows an image of a car with blood on the floor, thus linking the narrative of their album behind the meaning of the album. However, the front cover shows the car with the door open but from a different angle, but contains the same background. This once again shows a clear line between the narrative and the meaning of the album. The back cover shows the same location and setting, however, it does't show the car as it is creating the story/meaning of the album but it does show the clear like through the images by using the same location and theme.
Therefore, we decided when creating our album cover, we are going to link together the narrative and meaning of the album, hence reflecting an organic and alternative star image and not synthetic.
